Web app
Open it in your browser. No installation or account needed. Documents are edited on your device and never sent to our server.
Open
Open the web app and start writing. On the Demo page you can edit the basic sample and the all-syntax sample inside the site.
A Chromium-based browser such as Chrome or Edge is recommended for saving directly to files. Firefox and Safari can edit, but saving downloads a file.
Open and save files
- Open: use File → Open (Ctrl+O) or drop a
.md,.markdownor.txtfile. The current document stays as a draft. - New: use File → New. The browser uses Ctrl+N for a new window.
- Save: press Ctrl+S. Chrome and Edge overwrite the chosen file and remember it after reloading. If permission is needed again, click Allow in the status bar.
- Other browsers: Firefox, Safari and others download the file on each save.
Drafts and auto save
What you type is kept as a draft in your browser automatically. Close the page and continue next time. Drafts are separate from saved files and do not sync to other browsers or devices. Clearing site data removes drafts, so save important documents as files.

The Auto save ON / OFF switch in the status bar controls saving documents with a save location to their files automatically, such as when you switch documents or browser tabs.
Document list
The Folders tab in the sidebar lists the drafts in this browser. Select one to switch; each keeps its own undo history and position. Use “×” to delete a draft, and the pencil button to rename a draft without a save location. Files on disk are never deleted.
What the web app cannot do
- Browsers cannot read local files other than the Markdown you opened. Use the desktop app or the VS Code extension for documents with local images or links such as
images/photo.png. Pasted or dropped images are embedded in the document and display and save as is. - There is no folder list, Git history or CSS folder watching. Load custom CSS from Appearance.
- To create a PDF, choose Save as PDF in the print dialog.
