Download the Windows app
Reading and editing are free right now, with no trial registration, sign-in, or purchase. A Mac app is coming soon.
Microsoft Store distribution is planned. Until the app is listed in the Store, the installer is available from this page.
Download the Windows appSystem requirements
- 64-bit (x64) Windows 10 version 2004 or later, or Windows 11
- Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime. It comes with Windows 11 and is present on most Windows 10 PCs. If it is missing, the installer downloads it from Microsoft and installs it.
- .NET is bundled with the app, so you don't need to install it separately.
- To check whether the app is still offered for free, it reads a settings file (
plan.json) from the official site at startup and at other times. You can edit even without an internet connection.
Warnings when you run the installer
The installer is not code-signed yet, so Windows or your browser may show a warning when you download or run it.
- If Microsoft Edge says the file "isn't commonly downloaded", choose [Keep] from the [...] menu, then [Show more] → [Keep anyway].
- If "Windows protected your PC" appears when you run it, click [More info], check that the file name starts with
Nagi.md-Setup-, then click [Run anyway].
To check that the downloaded file is intact, run the following in PowerShell. The value shown should match the SHA-256 on this page.
Get-FileHash "$env:USERPROFILE\Downloads\Nagi.md-Setup-*.exe"
Installation
- No administrator rights are needed. The app is installed for the current user in
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Programs\Nagi.md. - The final page can open the Windows setting that makes Nagi.md the default app for
.mdfiles. - To update, run the newer installer over the installed version. If Nagi.md is running, choose "Exit Nagi.md" from the Nagi.md icon in the notification area first.
Uninstall
In Windows [Settings] → [Apps] → [Installed apps], select Nagi.md and click [Uninstall]. Settings and drafts (%LOCALAPPDATA%\Nagi) are kept. If you have used a trial or bought a subscription before, that information (Windows Credential Manager) is also kept. See the Privacy Policy for how to remove them.
About the Microsoft Store version
We will announce it on this page when the app is listed in the Microsoft Store. The Store version is code-signed and updated through the Store. The version installed from this page keeps working.
About the Mac app
A Mac app is coming soon, with support planned for both Apple silicon and Intel Macs. We will announce how to download it on this page at release. Until then, try the same editor in the web app.
